Some mornings
I'm alone at the office, I have meetings booked today, I rarely have meetings booked nowadays as I really do not have a steady assignment but rather a filler-assignment, service desk second line duty .. which means, handle second line incidents across 4 customers.
I'm involved in a new project, on the side, since I formally hasn't been joined to the project but have been asked to do some investigations regarding the tools and services used by a customer where we're supposed to onboard and start a migration project. My focus is to evaluate and investigate how a particular project is used and utilized and interfaces with other systems.
But nowhere is there any referenced that I'm about to be joined to the project or that I'll be on the team, it feels like they need my input to go forward but aren't joining me to the team, as a few projects has done previously. Like 3 of them, ask for my input on things, ask me to write a summary, ask me to write an in-depth analysis .. and then ghost me.
"oh, sorry, there wasn't any open spots"
Better if it was presented as such, an intro-, analysis-, temp- job that only required a few hours of my time .. then I'd decline the offers, as I'd like to have a long steady project to work on rather than short intense "gigs" on the side line.
I hope the latest project will pan out, but OTOH I feel it is a bit over my head as it is technology I've only touched once before, then years ago writing up a quick and dirty proof-of-concept to show it was possible, but nothing production-grade -- now being thrown in as expert.
