Medicated depression, day #208

Stumbled into the office at 08, hunted for coffee and started my day.

Today I'm gonna document some of the current old configurations, make some pretty lists in Markdown, add a new list of data sources as I stumbled upon a list of potential data sources of the correct flavor and present it to KC along with a list of search keywords for revamped monitoring lists.

How the data is scraped is determined from what type of data is available and how it is arranged.

I have enough on my plate to fill two hours, easily. Tomorrow I have a physical meeting with KC, who comes to our office from the next town over. We're going to discuss my little project further and draw up some plans for the future, there has been many involved in the little piece of code that is the project but nothing has been deployed, once it ran on an on-prem server, depends on Google Chrome being installed on the host and some other platform dependent crap.

My aim, since I completely does not give a damn where it runs or how it runs, are thinking about a script version, interpreted script .. which could be platform independent as runtime is available on everything + kitchen sink. Linux VM on any cloud provider is my "target platform", not sure how well that aligns with the company and KC's plans.

After work I'm supposed to go to sons school, as it is his second day in fifth grade and they are having these introduction days, yesterday and today, on Friday they have their first real school day, so if a visit is due, today would be the day to drop in. After school we go home together and son will most probably nag me for screen time, I'll probably give him some to get him to shut up and stop nagging me, so I can have some rest.

Later: my work computer is nagging me to be restarted, it has a shit load of updates to run, as the latest incarnations of wintendo leaks like a sieve, RCE in the TCP/IP-stack and what not, to me it seems like there is more vulnerabilities in wintendo than in other platforms, takes longer to patch and are wore security-wise.

Rebooting a computer should be the last-resort of patching, when updating, replacing core, kernel components .. in wintendo-land that includes mspaint, notepad or any other userland components or applications it seems. On a Linux system you can apply the latest patches and have them active a few blinks later .. without reboots, you could even switch running kernels (with the correct setup) without reboots.

Wintendo looks more and more like a eye-candy toy OS .. like something Fisher-Price would have made in the 1980's.
